In honour of our humanitarian aid help in the Ukraine; St.Thomas' was gifted a flag from the Ukraine. Translation of part of the flag is as follows:

This is the flag of a free country.
This is the flag of cities and villages.
This is the flag of my fatherland and the eternity of goodness in it. It floats like the blue sky. Without a cloud and is a symbol of goodness.
And yellow, the wealth of this soil.
A mark faith and warmth.

Land Acknowledgment

The City of St. Catharines and Niagara region is the traditional home to many

First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples. The land is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today.

This land acknowledgement is important: it reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people in our community – and indeed across the nations.
